Maremma by e-bike: wild nature, butteri and handmade tortelli
35 km of biking through wildlife, the beach, and a dinner of maremma tortelli
Explore the wildest and most authentic side of Tuscany with a sensory journey that combines sports, pristine nature, and fine local cuisine.
Our itinerary begins at the Gli Attortellati farmhouse, located a few kilometers from Grosseto, where you'll hop on modern e-bikes to immerse yourself in the heart of the Maremma.
We'll quickly reach Alberese, the gateway to the wonderful Maremma Natural Park, to cross the Ombrone River and enter a land where nature reigns supreme.
Cycling along the shady paths of the Uccellina mountains, you'll be enveloped by the intense scents of the Mediterranean scrub, including centuries-old holm oaks, cork oaks, and strawberry trees.
This park is a true sanctuary of biodiversity: along the way, you may encounter fallow deer, roe deer, wild boar, and foxes, but the most exciting spectacle remains the observation of wild Maremma cows and horses. With a bit of luck, you might catch a glimpse of the legendary Butteri, the last horseback herders who preserve local traditions, as they herd their cattle to pasture.
The route will take us to the wild beach of Collelungo, where the historic Collelungo tower dominates a crystal-clear coastline accessible only on foot or by bike.
After a regenerating break, the tour continues through the picturesque Grand Ducal Pine Forest to the mouth of the Ombrone River, breathing in the perfect blend of resin and saltiness.
Upon our return, the evening will conclude in the agriturismo's garden with an excellent dinner dedicated to Tuscan cuisine. The star of the show will be the famous Maremma tortelli hand-made by chef Mamo, a symbol of authenticity and flavor that will make this experience truly unforgettable.
