Suggestive itinerary that will allow us to admire the waterfalls of the Carigiola stream in a loop trail that touches Cavarzano and Gavigno.
We are within the ANPIL (Protected Natural Area of Local Interest), one of the most valuable in the entire province of Prato, located just below the Apennine watershed. From the Tabernacle of the Tavoletta towards Gavigno we will make our way through magnificent woods and landscapes, encountering some spectacular forms of river erosion, gorges, potholes, puddles and waterfalls. We will go along the steep Carigiola Creek, a left tributary of the Bisenzio river.
The symbol of the park is the Spectacled Salamander, numerous are the amphibians and reptiles that inhabit the area, as well as nocturnal and diurnal birds of prey.
The area also witnesses important historical references such as the Cavarzano Customs House on the road to the Limentra and the Gothic Line.
A fun and spectacular hike!
