Walking tour in Castiglione della Pescaia
Unpublished route to discover the historic village and the Diaccia Botrona nature reserve
Castiglione della Pescaia is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Tuscany, especially known for its beautiful sea and beaches awarded with the Blue Flag. Beyond its seaside appeal, this ancient fishing village preserves lesser-known corners and places waiting to be explored.
We will walk along the medieval walls up to the Aragonese Castle, from where it is possible to enjoy a breathtaking view over the entire Maremma coast and the Tuscan Archipelago. We will then wander through the narrow streets of the historic centre, among stone houses, picturesque views and small quiet corners that tell the story and traditions of the area.
The surrounding nature offers further discoveries: we will explore the Diaccia Botrona Nature Reserve, a wetland of international importance, an ideal habitat for numerous species of water birds and a perfect place to immerse yourself in the quiet and biodiversity of the Maremma area. The route then continues towards the Tombolo Pinewood, a green stretch that connects land and sea.
