Antinori wine tasting in Passignano: wine lunch and castle tasting
Antinori wine tasting and visit Badia a Passignano abbey, medieval Count's tower Tuscan lunch in San Gimignano, wine tasting masterclass in a Castle
My dear fellows and distinguished guests, WFTI Wine and Food Tours in Italy, under the esteemed stewardship of Mr. Marco Tenerini, is immensely proud to extend an invitation to a day of unparalleled refinement in the Tuscan countryside.
We offer an exclusive excursion for those who appreciate the finer things—a journey through the Marchesi Antinori's storied legacy across three distinct settings.
A) The Sacred Sanctuary: Badia a Passignano
Our morning commences at the most venerable estate of the Antinori family: an Abbey boasting over a millennium of continuous history.
Here, the very stones whisper of the past; indeed, the great Galileo Galilei graced these cloisters as a master of mathematics in the late 16th century.
We shall enjoy a proper introduction to the noble art of viticulture amidst breathtaking vineyard vistas before descending into the thousand-year-old cellars.
A sommelier of high standing will lead a tasting of four exceptional labels: Badia a Passignano Chianti Classico Gran Selezione; The legendary Tignanello Supertuscan; The robust Guado al Tasso Bolgheri; The majestic Pian delle Vigne Brunello di Montalcino.
To stand among these ancient barrels and manuscripts is to touch the very soul of wine history—a memory to be cherished and recounted to one’s grandchildren.
B) A Noble Banquet: The Count’s Tower
From the cloisters, we journey to the "Town of Fine Towers," San Gimignano—a UNESCO jewel of the Middle Ages.
You are invited to a banquet of medieval proportions upon the rooftop terrace of the Count’s Tower.
Following a personal welcome by the proprietor and a private tour of the fortifications, we shall raise a glass of Prosecco against a panoramic backdrop that defies description.
Our resident chef shall present a five-course meal of authentic Tuscan fare, crafted from the bounty of the surrounding farms.
This VIP luncheon is a symphonic pairing of flavours, featuring Brunello di Montalcino, Chianti Classico, Morellino, and the celebrated Vernaccia, complemented by the estate’s Gold Reserve Balsamic and exquisite oils.
C) The Master Class: Castello dei Marchesi
We conclude our day at the Castello dei Marchesi, a site where the grandeur of an ancient castle meets the striking lines of modern architectural genius.
This estate is a highlight of the Tuscany Wine Architecture circuit.
Here, you shall partake in an exclusive Private Master Class focused on the king of grapes: Sangiovese. Under expert guidance, we will conduct a technical tasting of three "Gran Selezione" wines, comparing two distinct vintages of each to assess their evolution.
This final, sophisticated chapter includes a visit to the signature cellar and a tasting of the estate’s finest olive oil and restorative grappa.
It is, quite simply, the quintessential Tuscan experience for the true connoisseur.
