A place rich in history to discover scents, flavors and legends related to the Black Rooster

The Casa Chianti Classico is located in the heart of Chianti, in Radda, in the convent of Santa Maria al Prato.
It offers, in its ancient rooms, proposals dedicated to wine and the culture of the territory: a wine shop of the Black Rooster, a sensory and informative path dedicated to wine and the history of Chianti Classico, a space for exhibitions, events or educational meetings.
The building of the Convent of Santa Maria al Prato dates back to the 18th century, when, the existing Romanesque oratory was entrusted to a community of religious who undertook its renovation.
The foundation stone of the convent was laid on 8 September 1708.
The place name “Santa Maria” has ancient origins: the sacred building has been recorded since the beginning of the 9th century as a pilgrimage destination in veneration of an image of the Virgin believed to be miraculous.

Inside it there is still a work by Neri di Bicci, dated 1474, depicting the Madonna and Child with St. Anthony the Abbot, St. John the Baptist and St. Nicholas.

Today the evocative rooms of the old Convent host several areas dedicated to the promotion of the Chianti territory and all its expressions, productive, artistic and cultural.
It is possible to choose between sensory paths in which to get to know Chianti Classico and learn how to taste it and guided tastings combined with a trekking through vineyards, to spend special moments between wine and the Tuscan landscape.
