From an ancient thermal facility a museum bearing witness to the presence of ancient civilizations

The Roman Etruscan Antiquarium Museum is located in Sasso Pisano - a locality known for the presence of boraciferous showerheads in which human presence has been attested since the Paleolithic Age - and collects the most interesting artifacts found during excavations in the archeological area known as the Bagnone, a very ancient thermal facility.
Prominent among the many discoveries is a lead and tin Minerva and a small bronze offeror with a distinct Volterra imprint, as evidenced by the various comparisons with other bronze productions found in Bagnone, which are also displayed in the Antiquarium's showcases.

Also rich in specimens is the collection of coins all dating back to the Roman imperial age, around the third century A.D., bearing on the obverse the effigy of the emperor holding power at that time.
There is also a terracotta bathtub and several tiles with the stamp in Etruscan characters.
The museum is closely linked to the area of which it is part; in fact, the effect of the vapors escaping from the earth's crust and generating the boraciferous showerheads typical of the area are a peculiarity that has been exploited since time immemorial; in addition to these findings, there are in the area several medieval washhouses used up to the present day.
