Villa Certano, a historical residence in Tuscany, is set just 7 km from Siena, in the heart of the Chianti Colli Senesi. Here, you can spend a holiday in perfectly restored country houses, reliving Tuscan countryside traditions. Owned for generations by the Baldassarrini Macinelli family, Villa Certano belonged during the Renaissance to the famous Sienese painter and architect Lorenzo di Pietro Vecchietta, who made it his home.

The estate includes country houses and apartments created from a wing of the main villa, beautifully renovated and furnished for pleasant holiday stays.

The accommodations are situated in a wonderfully panoramic and tranquil location, while still being conveniently close to Siena.

Connected to the Villa and enclosed among the buildings, you can admire a small pre-Romanesque church. Historical chronicles show it was already in existence in the 8th century AD, during the time of the Lombard King Liutprand.

In the surrounding lands, Sangiovese, Merlot, Canaiolo, Trebbiano, and Malvasia grapes are grown, ripening on the sunniest slopes. Even today, they are carefully selected during the harvest season for the production of Chianti dei Colli Senesi DOCG, Vin Santo, and IGT table wine. In late autumn, with the harvesting and pressing of the olives, we create one of the finest extra virgin olive oils in the world. The Certano estate features three wine cellars from three different historical periods: the large vat room built in 1906 by an ancestor of the Baldassarrini family and still used today for the production of Chianti dei Colli Senesi; the cellar with the old wooden barrels; and the ancient underground cellar carved into the tuff rock.
