Roselle

Erected around the Terme Leopoldine, the locality is a stone’s throw from an Archaeological Area

Not far from the archaeological area that preserves the remnants of the well-known Etruscan-Roman city is the modern Roselle, a hamlet of Grosseto that arose around the Terme Leopoldine—or Leopoldine Thermal Baths—as of 1823.

Sporadically frequented merely to use the thermal baths, the area became populated once more after 1936, when the Immacolata Concezione Parish Church was erected. The spa structure is still located in the center of the town and can be visited during the opening hours of the Proloco (cultural association), housed within some of the building’s rooms. The second floor holds a permanent exhibition dedicated to the construction designs and elevations of the structure.

For stargazers, not to be missed is a visit to the astronomical observatory, abuzz with cultural events throughout the year. In summer, the resort offers a range of entertaining events thanks to the presence of a theater built inside the old quarries, now used for various kinds of shows and concerts.
