The village frozen in time

Cycling through the Middle Ages: silence, ancient stones and fairytale views in the Casentino

Set off from Corsalone in the municipality of Chiusi della Verna, to immediately be immersed in nature on a short but intense hike. Start cycling along quiet back roads. The initial climb requires a bit of effort to gain elevation but the gentle, steady gradients make the ascent easier. As the physical exertion takes its toll, the landscape gradually opens up, offering sweeping views of the valley.

The route continues, taking you off the beaten path until reaching Sarna, a small, perfectly preserved rural village. Here, you are welcomed by its Castle, which has remained virtually unchanged since the Middle Ages. As you wander through the narrow alleys between the characteristic stone houses, enjoy the authentic atmosphere typical of the Casentino region, far from the throngs of tourists.

After taking a break to recharge, get ready to head back to Corsalone. The return route winds through cool forests and long descents. During this part of the trip, pay special attention to your speed and road conditions. This smooth stretch allows you to complete a very varied loop.

Don’t miss the highlights along the route, being a visit to the medieval Castle of Sarna and a refreshing stop at the natural pools of the Corsalone stream to conclude the ride.
