An exhibition celebrating the magic of Val d’Orcia in Pienza

Through to June 30, the City Museum of Pienza is hosting an extraordinary exhibition celebrating one of the world’s most striking landscapes: the Val d’Orcia. Titled “Val d’Orcia ... Incanto Toscano” (“Val d’Orcia ... Tuscan Enchantment”), the exhibition takes the public on a discovery, through the works of maestro Renato Guerrini, of the timeless beauty of this land that has inspired poets, painters and photographers from around the world.

The art of Guerrini, a Tuscan painter and sculptor, confronts the extraordinary nature of the Val d’Orcia landscape, a stretch of Tuscany that has long enchanted those who observe this land. The exhibition brings together a selection of paintings and sculptures that interpret the nature, colors, lights and atmospheres that characterize this area.

Each of Guerrini’s works is an invitation to get in touch with the soul of this land. His oil paintings, marked by vivid, nuanced brushstrokes, capture the vastness of the cypress trees, undulating hills and ancient parish churches that dot the landscape, while his bronze sculptures seem to rise directly from the ground, as if the land of the Val d’Orcia has taken three-dimensional form.

In a context so rich in history and tradition, the City Museum of Pienza becomes the ideal place to admire art that blends in with the surrounding landscape, almost as if the works were an integral part of the landscape that has fascinated and continues to inspire anyone who approaches.
