Thyme, wild strawberry, juniper, violet, cypress, musk and even wine, from a young variety scented with freshly picked grapes to the Riserva where extensive aging gives a softer and more enveloping olfactory complexity. A plethora of scents and smells characterize Chianti, to which the first exhibition welcoming in the new season at the Chianti Sculpture Park in Pievasciata is dedicated.
From March 22, the protagonist of the open-air gallery dedicated to temporary exhibitions will be Francesca Casale, aka SENSU, one of the most interesting Italian artists of Olfactory Art today, exploring an artform that uses scents and their applications as a means of expression, involving the sense of smell as a primary means of communication.
The exhibition will be opened on March 22 in the presence of the artist, as part of events dedicated to Fragrance Day promoted by the Accademia del Profumo (a free event with reservation required due to limited places).
Francesca Casale SENSU’s solo exhibition “Olfactus Loci” will run until Saturday, June 21.
Chianti Sculpture Park Entry Fees: Adults €10, 5–18 years €5, 0–4 years free.
