Returning to Livorno from May 29 to June 1 is Straborgo, the event that enlivens Borgo Cappuccini, Piazza Mazzini, Porta a Mare and other spaces in the city with concerts, performances, art, markets, family initiatives and events related to the identity of the districts.
Now in its 6ᵗʰ edition, the Straborgo formula has been has perfected as a large, free urban festival combining music, culture, folk traditions and local storytelling. The heart of the event will be Piazza Mazzini, where the main shows are scheduled every night at 9:30 pm.
Music heads the billboard on Friday, May 29, with The Zen Circus, in concert with the summer tour linked to the album Il Male. Opening will be Livorno-based singer-songwriter Ferrara.
Taking to the stage on Saturday, May 30, will be LDA & AKA 7EVEN, with the date being part of their Primo e Ultimo Ballo (First and Last Dance) Summer Tour 2026.
On Sunday, May 31, the stage will be given to the comedy of Stefano Santomauro with the show Happy Days, while on Monday, June 1, the closing act will be Nada, who returns to her hometown with the Nitrito Tour, along with a full band.
Alongside the evening events, Straborgo offers a program spread throughout the district.
Sunday, May 31, will also be dedicated to the Coppa Risi’atori, the historic Livorno rowing race that perfectly connects the Secche della Meloria to the port of Livorno to form part of the triptych of the city’s rowing tradition, along with the Palio Marinaro and the Coppa Barontini.
The connection with Borgo Cappuccini will also be told through the photo project Bar Orione, Borgo Cappuccini. La Gente di un Rione (The People of a District), curated by Stefano Pilato, with some 300 images along the walls of the district, featuring the faces, stories, trades and memories of the Borgo from the 20ᵗʰ century to the present.
From May 29 to June 1, the Porta a Mare area will host Strabrocantage and Stravintage, markets dedicated to antiques and vintage clothing, open from 5:00 pm to midnight.
The Generare exhibition by Tiziano Illiano will be on view at the Officine, with creative workshops for children between 4:00 and 10:00 pm.
On the Scali Novi Lena, the Compagnia Santimbalco will offer circus school activities and soap bubble shows from 9:00 to 11:00 pm.
Also back is the outdoor cinema for children at the City Center Fratelli Gragnani Park, with entrance from the Odeon Parking Lot or Via San Carlo.
Screenings will be shown on the lawn, without prearranged seating. Attendees can bring a chair from home or sit on the grass.
The cultural proposal is enriched with Strabordo, a visual arts project that transforms the district into a widespread creative laboratory. Studios, workshops and exhibition spaces will open to the public with exhibitions, installations, art trails and video mapping on the façades of the historic buildings.
Visits to the Livorno Lighthouse are also planned for the occasion.
All main events are free admission.
