Until March 15, Villa Mimbelli in Livorno is hosting the largest anthological exhibition dedicated to Pietro Annigoni in the past two decades: "Pietro Annigoni, painter of magnificent intellect".

Tracing the artistic life of the great 20th-century Italian artist, an exhibition of more than 160 works, including the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II that made him world-famous.

Annigoni had throughout his life a special relationship with the city of Livorno and a passion for the sea, for sailing, for fishing, for storms, as evidenced by numerous works at Villa Mimbelli.

Alongside these, there is a production of portraits and self-portraits that spans his entire career, including that of the young Sovereign executed in 1954-1955 and which has become a truly iconic image of the twentieth century.
