Every year, between April 25 and May 1, Florence becomes the global capital of craftsmanship with MIDA – the International Handicrafts Exhibition, held in the historic venue of the Fortezza da Basso. A one-of-a-kind event where tradition meets innovation, and ancient craftsmanship blends with the most modern technologies.
Founded in 1931, MIDA was Italy’s firts crafts fair, and over the decades, it has become a landmark not only for the local public but also for visitors and professionals from all over the world. Today, just as in the past, the goal remains the same: to showcase the very best of Italian and international artisanal production.
In 2026, for its 90th edition, MIDA will take place from April 25 to May 3, with a special celebration that combines tradition with new and engaging experiences. It’s more than an exhibition: workshops, cooking shows, tastings, installations, and live demonstrations will guide you through a journey that celebrates the past, present, and future of artisanal know-how.
The edition also features an enriching calendar of events with the international conference on April 29 dedicated to geographical indications for artisan and industrial products, the European Crafts Alliance Annual Conference 2026, visits to the underground of the Fortezza da Basso, a space dedicated to the MADE IN MIM (Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy) project, the exhibition on the 90ᵗʰ anniversary of MIDA and evening outdoor concerts from April 25 to May 2.
A program that broadens the outlook on the cultural, social and economic value of crafts and opens the event to different audiences.
