On the weekend of Corpus Domini (Corpus Christi), Fucecchio is celebrating the 37ᵗʰ Infiorata, an event of ephemeral art that transforms the downtown streets into a succession of floral carpets made of whole and fragmented petals, leaves and seeds.
A painstaking and collective project, destined to be short-lived but capable of renewing a deeply felt tradition each year and shaping one of the city’s most evocative events.
Again in 2026, certain creations will be visible as early as the evening of Thursday, June 4 at strategic points inside some buildings, while the main event remains the floral carpets along Corso Matteotti, Via Donateschi and Via Nelli.
One project involving schoolchildren will begin on Saturday, June 6, from 4:00 pm on Via Nelli. From there, the work will continue until the early morning hours of Sunday, June 7, in time for the passage of the solemn procession that sets off from the Collegiate Church and ends in the Santa Maria delle Vedute Church, where the final flower ‘painting’ will be.
Along with the opportunity to admire the finished works, there is also the chance to participate in their creation. Those who wish to collaborate can contact the Pro Loco to volunteer their time.
In conjunction with the Infiorata, the 5ᵗʰ Fiat 500 Meeting will also be held in Piazza Montanelli, while an art and ingenuity market will be set up along the adjacent streets.
