An exhibition in Florence to honor the first Grand Duke of Tuscany on the anniversary of his death

Costumes, memorabilia, aerial photographs and a QR code for an immersive experience. Until May 16, an exhibition dedicated to the extraordinary figure of Cosimo I de' Medici, Duke of Florence and first Grand Duke of Tuscany, will be on view at Palace Sacrati Strozzi.

The story of Cosimo I, and in particular his political dimension, is reconstructed through the sumptuous costumes that faithfully reconstruct the Medici's clothes, sartorial works made by Manifatture Digitali Cinema in Prato, and some memorabilia (among them the papal bull that conferred Cosimo the title of grand duke in 1569).

The aerial photographs by Massimo Sestini allow to observe how Cosimo's mark on Tuscany is still present today, starting from his involvement in the fortifications of numerous cities.

Finally, it will be possible to virtually enter the small study of Cosimo in Palazzo Vecchio.

On the anniversary of his death (April 21, 1574), the Grand Duke is presented through his vision and strategy: the greatest statesman of the Medici family, the origin of modern Tuscany.
