Via Francigena from Lucca to Siena with guide
A beautiful walk along the historic stages of Tuscany
The Via Francigena is the most important historic pilgrimage route in Italy. In Tuscany, some of its most beautiful and fascinating sections can be found. Together with a guide, participants will have the opportunity to discover in detail all the highlights encountered along the way, including history, culture, gastronomy and breathtaking landscapes.
Travellers will also be able to enjoy the experience fully as “pilgrims”, stopping and staying overnight at traditional pilgrim accommodations, often housed in historic buildings.
The meeting point is in Lucca, with a visit to the city and the collection of pilgrim credentials. The walk continues along the Tuscan section of the Via Francigena, with stages in Altopascio, a historic place of welcome for pilgrims, San Miniato, a medieval hilltop town, Gambassi Terme, a traditional stopping point in a rural hilly landscape, San Gimignano, famous for its medieval towers, Colle Val d’Elsa and Monteriggioni, an iconic fortified castle, before arriving in Siena.
The stages can be adjusted in advance upon request by the participants, according to their needs.
The service includes only the accompaniment of the guide along the route. Accommodation, meals and other services are not included.

- Colle Val d’Elsa – Ancient medieval and Renaissance town overlooking the Elsa Valley.
- Monteriggioni – Iconic fortified castle with intact walls, a visual and historical landmark of the Via Francigena.
- Siena – Historic medieval city, the final destination of the walk and cultural heart of Tuscany.
The stages can be adjusted in advance upon participants’ request, according to their needs and walking pace.
