Valdera on foot: Teatro del Silenzio and medieval ruins
A great hike in the heart of Valdera, through one of those Tuscan landscapes that seems straight out of a postcard
Evening hike for the Summer Solstice, through postcard-perfect landscapes of the Valdera, among barren countryside lined with farmhouses and an endless succession of hills fading into the horizon of Volterra. Ochre hues blend with cobalt blue skies, offering sweeping and unforgettable views.
Immense horizons will lead us to the solitary and mystical Rocca di Pietracassia, one of the most important early medieval monuments in the Province of Pisa, nestled on a limestone spur above the Sterza stream, a bastion between the Valdera and Valdicecina valleys, a solemn and magical place.
The pivotal point of our adventure will be the iconic Theater of Silence, a symbol of the beautiful village of Lajatico and a symbol of the Tuscan landscape, where ochre hues blend with cobalt blue, offering sweeping and unforgettable views. We will walk among the beautiful hills of Lajatico, admiring the open, rolling countryside, where the gaze encompasses the entire Valdera, with its villages, perched farmhouses, and distant woods.
We'll then return through the rolling hills to the heights overlooking the Theater, which greets us with its unmistakable mass, a perfect expression of the integration between architecture and environment.
The Teatro del Silenzio is a natural amphitheater that has hosted world-renowned artists such as Laura Pausini, Roberto Bolle, Plácido Domingo, José Carreras, and Andrea Bocelli. Bocelli, in particular, returns each year to his hometown of Lajatico for a concert, after which the Teatro once again falls into silence.
