Orsigna, in the Terzani mountains
Daily excursion to the enchanted valley on the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines
We will discover the mystical Orsigna Valley, one of the most emblematic and unspoiled places in our Apennines. It is a timeless place characterized by numerous stone hamlets, the "Case," once inhabited by proud mountain workers. The valley is surrounded by the high peaks of Monte Gennaio and Poggio delle Ignude; it is rich in popular stories handed down from generation to generation, among fears and "Devil's Footprints." In the past, smugglers bypassed the official customs of the Grand Duchy through the rugged trans-Apennine mule tracks of the area.
The valley was also chosen by the popular journalist and writer Tiziano Terzani as his residence during the years of illness, after his Himalayan hermitages. Our itinerary will retrace the most representative places among incredible forests and landscapes. We will reach the summit of the legendary Poggio delle Ignude, follow the ridge of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, and be captivated by the beauty of the places.
