Lucca city tour

Guided tour through the historic centre, discovering its enormous artistic heritage

If you are visiting Lucca for the first time, you absolutely must not miss this tour to discover the historic centre and its wonders.

You will share the experience of a guided walking tour to discover the main tourist attractions! Lucca retains the charm of a small, ancient Italian city-state. Its shrewd politics have allowed it to remain free and independent over the centuries. Miraculously untouched, therefore, by the destruction of wars, it still retains one of the most important artistic heritages in Tuscany.

You will begin the tour in the central Piazza San Michele in Foro, characterised by the Romanesque church of the same name. You will head towards Piazza Napoleone from which you can admire the Palazzo Ducale, dating back to the Neoclassical period, and the Teatro del Giglio, one of the oldest public theatres in Italy. You will then discover the majestic Cathedral of San Martino, a fundamental destination for medieval pilgrims who passed through here to venerate the image of the 'Holy Face' of Christ.

Passing through the city's characteristic medieval streets, you will find yourself in Piazza dell'Anfiteatro, founded on the remains of the ancient Roman arena. You will then pass in front of the famous Guinigi Tower, unique for the charming tree-lined hanging garden on its top. After admiring the astonishing façade of the Basilica San Frediano, you will climb the Renaissance Walls.

The tour lasts approximately two hours and starts at 2 pm. The indicated price is valid for one person.
