The great crossing, from Apennines to the Apuan Alps

By joining this 12-day, 11-night trek, which begins in the highlands between Tuscany and Emilia-Romagna and continues through the most evocative corners of the Apuan Alps, you'll have the chance to truly immerse yourself in nature. You can bring your own tent, sleeping mat, and sleeping bag — or use one of the tents we’ll provide.

We’ll take care of transporting your luggage and gear between overnight stops, so you can hike light and free, accompanied by an expert guide. All you'll need is a 25–30 liter backpack with just the essentials for your day in the open air.

The itinerary partly follows the classic Great Apennine Excursion, but reimagined into an exciting route that weaves together quiet trails and hidden villages, full of charm and natural beauty. Once we reach the slopes of the Apuan Alps, we’ll traverse some of their most impressive peaks, following an unusual path that offers unexpected views, a fresh perspective, and a truly unique experience.

We’ll start our journey in the medieval village of Sillico and end it in Fornovolasco, one of our most beloved destinations. On the final day, we’ll complete our circular route using a fun and eco-friendly mode of travel: the electric mountain bike.

Along the way, you’ll cross a landscape that combines historic villages, ancient mule tracks, ancestral transhumance paths, scenic ridgelines, and the most breathtaking stretches of the Apuan mountain peaks.
