The enchantment of the works of a great composer in his homeland

The Puccini Festival was born in 1930 to realize a strong desire of the Maestro: he would like to listen to one of his operas resound once in a lifetime on the shores of the lake where he composed it.

Right on the shores of the Massaciuccoli lake, six years after his death, Puccini's friends staged "La Bohème" for the first time. Since then, it has been possible to experience the beautiful music of Puccini amidst the incredible natural setting provided by the lake. The Puccini Festival's open-air theatre was inaugurated in 2008, marking the 150th anniversary of Puccini's birth. The 70th edition of the Festival holds special significance as it commemorates 100 years since the passing of the great Master, Giacomo Puccini.

Come and discover the extraordinary beauty of the land that inspired Puccini, and delve into the Maestro's connection with these surroundings. Explore the Villa-Mausoleum where his remains lie, visit his birthplace in Lucca, explore the places of his childhood and youth, and immerse yourself in the countryside of his ancestors. Embark on a journey to uncover the life of a whimsical and intriguing man, and enjoy his exceptional music from a completely authentic perspective..
