Inside the National Park: towards the source of the Arno and Campigna
A ride immersed in the thick of the woods, ideal for discovering the UNESCO area of the National Park
Climbing on an e-bike towards the heart of the Casentino Forests National Park means entering one of the oldest woodlands in Europe: centuries-old beech and chestnut trees, silver firs planted in the Middle Ages by the Camaldolese monks, shaded forests inhabited by magnificent wild animals, and skies crossed by majestic birds of prey.
The tour starts from Pratovecchio and rides quietly along forest roads towards the source of the Arno where, among roots and moss, this river that crosses all of Tuscany is born – the very river Dante Alighieri references in the Divine Comedy.
Climbing higher still, you reach Passo della Calla and the ridge of Monte Falco, with Casentino on one side and Romagna on the other, before arriving at Campigna and the Sasso Fratino integral nature reserve.
