Emotional Garden “Sentieri di Piume”
An experiential path between art and nature in the Tuscan countryside
The Giardino Emozionale dei Sentieri di Piume (Emotional Garden of Feather Paths) is located in the countryside of Monteverdi Marittimo, within a 16ᵗʰ-century rural property. Established in 2021 and designed by landscape architect Caterina Angela Contu, it covers some 86,000 square feet (8,000 square meters).
This is no traditional ornamental garden but an experiential path where nature, art and landscape architecture dialog to provide people with an immersive and land-conscious experience.
The path unfurls through different thematic areas—labyrinthine flower beds, a natural amphitheater, a Water Piazza, Fire Kingdom, ornamental garden, Mediterranean Dry Garden, Flower Kingdom, Portal of the Sun and Emotional Path in the forest with art installations. Inspiring the name “Sentieri di Piume” (“Feather Paths”) are the soaring grasses found along the path.
Each space is designed to enhance biodiversity and invite a slow enjoyment of the landscape, in keeping with the Tuscan tradition of the garden as a place of beauty, thought and the relationship between you and the earth.
At the center of this experience is a Mongolian yurt surrounded by greenery, a circular space dedicated to wellness, meditation and holistic practices.
The Garden can be visited by appointment and welcomes guided tours, sensory paths, cultural activities and initiatives dedicated to art.
