Rifugio di Cave

Our mountain refuge is immersed in the Acquerino Cantagallo Nature Reserve, in the heart of the Tuscan Apennines, approximately 800 meters above sea level. It is managed by Legambiente Prato. The Nature Reserve brings together natural environments of pristine beauty and important evidence of the presence and traditional activities of man. It is an alpine refuge for hikers and an environmental education center of Legambiente (CEA). The Le Cave refuge has also been recognized by Legambiente Turismo for its commitment to protecting the environment and for its eco-sustainability practices. It is the ideal place suitable for adults, families and groups of friends to live in total contact with nature, to discover the typical flora and fauna of the Reserve. The structure, a completely renovated stone farmhouse, has an equipped kitchen to prepare typical dishes of the area, a large dining room and a bar room with fireplace where you can stop and enjoy a good book or listen to the managers' stories . The refuge also offers large internal and external common areas, it is equipped with a projector for teaching and showing photos and films, a barbecue and a wood-burning oven. Electricity and heating are powered by renewable sources; in fact, the refuge has a photovoltaic system, a wood boiler and there is a solar panel for domestic hot water. The refuge is also included as a rest point in the horse trail of the Province of Prato.
