CASA AL CASSERO

Minimalist charm with a view in Roccalbegna. "Casa al Cassero" is a 23 m² studio apartment, recently renovated and simply but fully equipped. It has heat pump heating, a TV, an induction hob, and a bathroom with a mosaic-tiled shower.

The apartment has two single beds that can be pushed together to form a double bed.

Outside, there's a small private pergola with a table, chairs, and lighting – nice for summer evenings.

Downstairs, on request, there's a taverna with a sofa, a large table with bench, a second TV, and an extra bathroom.

From the window you can see the hills above the Albegna River: Poggio Piantuma and Poggio Crivello. From the external staircase leading to the entrance, you get a good view over the village and La Pietra.

The house is named after the old fortification above it, the Cassero Senese, built in the 13th century by the Aldobrandeschi and later remodelled by the Sienese. It's now a public garden. The Sienese once connected it with walls to La Pietra, a 60-metre rock spire with another medieval fortress on top. Parts of the walls still remain, including Porta di Maremma and Le Torricelle.

Civico N°1 (house number 1) is the name of the project 'hospitality in Ricettività Diffusa' by the Cooperativa di Comunità Davide Lazzaretti in the municipality of Roccalbegna. Casa al Cassero is one of the homes that are part of this initiative. It's an innovative 'Made in Italy' type of accommodation that reopens unused houses to visitors, following and supporting the lifestyle of Roccalbegna's historic centre.
