Inauguration of the monument dedicated to Leonardo by sculptor Filippo Tincolini

On April 15 in Vinci, the birthday of the famous Leonardo will be celebrated with a special day culminating in the inauguration of the monument dedicated to the Genius, created by sculptor Filippo Tincolini
Spread among the symbolic locations of the village, the event combines memory, art and participation.

The program includes:

  • At 10:00 am, in the Santa Croce Church, a tribute to the lilies of Florence and France at the Baptismal Font.
  • At 12:20 pm, at the Prato dei Salici at Via delle Piagge 3, launch of the Vinci meteorological radiosonde, with a connection to the House of Made in Italy on the occasion of National Made in Italy Day.
  • At 5:30 pm, the historical procession with the drummers of the Volo di Cecco Santi setting off from Piazza Guido Masi to Via Roma, where the monument to Leonardo made by Filippo Tincolini will be unveiled at 6:00 pm.
  • At 7:00 pm, inauguration of the photo exhibition dedicated to the sculptor, to be held at Piazza della Libertà 26, followed at 7:30 pm by a toast to Leonardo with musical accompaniment.

Focus will also be on the Leonardo Museum, open to the public from 9:30 am to 8:00 pm. 
Leonardo’s Workshop, with interactive models, can be visited from 10:30 am to 7:30 pm, while a guided tour of the museum is scheduled for 4:00 pm, to be followed by an educational activity at 4:30 pm in Piazza della Libertà.

Making the day even more atmospheric will be the Borgo di Vinci adorned to celebrate its most distinguished citizen.
