The 16ᵗʰ edition in the evocative Dante Hall in the San Gimignano Civic Museums

The 16ᵗʰ edition of the Festival Barocco in San Gimignano will be held in the charming Dante Hall in the San Gimignano Civic Museums on September 13, 27 and 28.

On the program are three concerts focusing on Baroque music at the turn of the 17ᵗʰ century, performed according to the performance trends of the time and with reproductions of original instruments. Much of the Festival focuses on Tuscany, the birthplace of so many of the masters and masterpieces of that period.

The program:

  • Saturday, September 13
The first concert will feature the Dulcedo Ardens ensemble in a program dedicated to Francesca Caccini and her best-known work, “The Liberation of Ruggiero from the Isle of Alcina,” with this year marking the 400ᵗʰ anniversary of the first-ever performance.
  • Saturday, September 27
The Bisentium ensemble will perform a series of “Tuscan Sonatas.”
  • Sunday, September 28
The last concert of this edition will offer an overview of Baroque music in Europe thanks to the Ensemble dei Leggieri.

The concerts start at 5:30 pm.
Tickets cost: €10–€12, available in pre-sale from the Tourist Office or directly at the concert venue from one hour before the start.
