On May 17 and 18, Montelupo Fiorentino opens its doors to creativity with “Buongiorno Ceramica”, the national festival of artistic ceramics. An entire weekend dedicated to the tradition of ceramics and involving more than 50 cities throughout Italy, with a rich program of events designed to delight young and old alike.
Exhibitions, guided tours, workshops, installations and experiential activities will be held in the heart of the historic center and in the places symbolic of Montelupese ceramic production. A unique opportunity to get up close and personal with Montelupo’s cultural heritage and to rediscover the craftsmanship and flair of contemporary artisans.
Some of the scheduled appointments include:
- Artisan Workshop Visits, including the Bea Bis Art Space with Raku techniques, Serena Tani’s “Real Blue” workshop, Sergio Pilastri’s studio, Ceramiche Marino and Paola Ramondini’s workshop with Raku jewelry and ceramics.
- Passeggiata Montelupo Contemporanea (Contemporary Montelupo Walk) following a route among the site-specific artworks that embellish the village.
- Workshops for Children and Adults involving fun-educational activities, pottery painting demonstrations and itineraries among downtown workshops.
- Scuola della Ceramica Open Day including live demonstrations and workshops run by students of the IFTS course and a NOW widespread contemporary art exhibition, held in collaboration with Fondente Arte.
- Free Guided Tours of the Ceramics Museum, the Museum Furnace, the Bitossi Museum Archives, the Marco Bagnoli Atelier and the Archaeological Museum, with the local artisans and artists as the exceptional escorts.
