In Lucca, the most important exhibition on the English band ever seen in Italy

Photographs, original memorabilia, videos and rarities chronicle the lives and careers of the four members of Queen and especially the legend of Freddie Mercury.

“Queen Unseen - Peter Hince,” in Lucca’s Palazzo Guinigi from April 3 to June 29, is the exhibition chronicling the extraordinary personal and professional journey of Queen and their charismatic leader through the photographs of Freddie Mercury’s road manager and personal assistant, Peter Hince, along with a rich selection of memorabilia.

Hince’s association with Queen began in 1975, during the early stages of recording A Night At The Opera. Of those early years, there are unfortunately no photographs, since Peter only began snapping away as of 1977 when the band reached the peak of its worldwide success, continuing until 1986.

Hince’s shots include some of Freddie Mercury’s most iconic images, captured in recording studios, on photo shoots and on music video sets. The photographs give a unique and privileged insight into the band and its leader, in images exhibited for the first time in Europe, some as international premieres.

An exhibition pathway illuminated by more than a hundred various objects and documents, all original, counting memorabilia, records, posters, musical instruments, clothing and accessories, documents, rarities and belongings pertaining to the band members, from Mercury’s microphone stand to the garments worn in the Radio Gaga video. The tour ends in a video room showing rare clips from the band’s international concerts.
