La Gallo Nero - Cycling Event in Chianti

La Gallo Nero is the sporting event dedicated to bicycle lovers and the promotion of Chianti Classico. 

The event is held at one of the most evocative times of the year for Chianti, during the grape harvest.

This year’s La Gallo Nero is scheduled for September 28.

The 2025 edition includes 2 routes for racing bikes:

• Cosimo III at 37 miles (60 kilometers)
  Setting off between 8:30 am to 9:00 am
• Gallo Nero at 82.6 miles (133 kilometers)
  Setting off between 8:00 am to 8:30 am with 2 timed sections

Timing will be done by STS-EVODATA based on one chip technology.
The timed sections, during which the roads will be closed off to traffic for a maximum of 2 hours, will see riders competing for the final women’s individual ranking and men’s individual ranking, as follows:

• Luiano Time Trial (at about 2.5 miles or 4 kilometers)
• Canaglia Uphill Time Trial (at about 1.9 miles or 3 kilometers)

Exclusive experiences and tastings at local wineries have been reserved for participants, organized on the sidelines of the competition.
