The Orchestra of Tuscany in the Cenacula of the Florentine Renaissance

From April 12 to June 21 in Florence, at the Museum of San Marco and in the Cenacoli (Cenacula) of Sant’Apollonia, Fuligno, Ognissanti and Andrea del Sarto in San Salvi, kicks off I Luoghi dell’Ascolto, a new concert series that brings the Orchestra della Toscana (ORT) to the frescoed refectories of some of the city’s most striking state museums.

Scheduled are 6 concerts in spaces that hold some of the most intense remnants of the Florentine Renaissance. The project—which received the highest score nationwide in the Ministry of Culture’s call for proposals dedicated to exalting live performance activities in cultural venues—was developed with the aim of bringing music and painting into dialog, offering a new way of interpreting historical and artistic heritage.

The concerts take place during regular museum opening hours and feature chamber ensembles composed of ORT musicians, with repertoires ranging from Viennese classicism and 20ᵗʰ-century music to Italian opera.
