Visual laboratory through videomapping and light installations across the city

For the Christmas holidays, Florence lights up with art and culture thanks to Florence Lights Up, the festival running from December 6 to January 6. A sort of Christmas spin-off that transforms squares and monuments into a vast visual laboratory thanks to video mapping and light installations spread throughout the city.

The evocative venues chosen for the video mapping are Ponte Vecchio, the façades of Palazzo Vecchio and the Church of San Paolino
Light installations will also illuminate Piazza Santa Maria Novella, Piazza San Lorenzo, the Chamber of Commerce façade, and the courtyard and monumental entrance of Palazzo Medici Riccardi.

A dedicated scenography, with dynamic and multi-coloured lighting, will also be activated on the historic gates, the Loggiato degli Innocenti and the Loggiato di San Paolo at the Museo Novecento.

In addition to the historic center, the festival also involves the other Florentine neighborhoods:

  • District 2
    Piazza delle Cure
  • District 3
Piazza Acciaiuoli (Galluzzo) and Piazza Elia dalla Costa (Gavinana)
  • District 4
Piazza dell’Isolotto and Piazza Pier Vettori
  • District 5
Piazza Dalmazia and San Donato Park.
