
Back in great form is Estate Fiorentina (Florentine Summer), a rich season of events for all tastes, serving 100+ projects and many festivals around the city from June 1–September 30.
To start is Festival Secret Florence from June 9–July 5, with art, dance and music in lesser-known places throughout the city.
Dedicated to the publishing world is Le Piazze dei Libri (The Piazzas of Books) held in various squares from June 10–13. Musica dei Poeti e Poeti della Musica del Novecento (Music of Poets and Poets of Music from the 20ᵗʰ Century) will be held in the Palazzo Strozzi courtyard from September 3–5.
Palazzuolo Strada Aperta is a festival set to transform Via Palazzuolo into an open-air art gallery.
The Festival Sagrati in Musica involves various concerts under parvises from June 7–September 7. The Florence Dance Performing Arts Festival from June 23 will enliven the Chiostro Grande of Santa Maria Novella with dance and classical music concerts.
Changing locations from the forecourt of the Uffizi Gallery to that of the Pitti Palace, the Apriti Cinema film festival will run from June 16 to July 13.
The Festival au Desert Firenze, with Mediterranean, Middle Eastern and North African music, will be held in the Cascine Park from July 23–25, along with a festival from September 19–21: Open Air Circus.
From September 2–14, the Florence Jazz Festival will animate the Oltrarno, just as Genius Loci, traversing various disciplines, will enliven the Santa Croce monumental complex from September 25–27.
Many more events are scheduled, involving big names like Elio Germano, Marco Giallini, Samuele Bersani and Zerocalcare.
The Estate Fiorentina evenings are also livened by 14 summer spaces, with the newest being the beautiful green area of the ex Michelangelo Campground, just a stone’s throw from the scenic Piazzale Michelangelo. Open-air venues are also to be found in various parts of the city, some of which are certainly cooler.
