170 works by the artist displayed at the Museo Novecento

From March 25 to September 13 at the Museo Novecento in Florence, you have the chance to visit Avanti!, the major exhibition dedicated to Georg Baselitz, developed in collaboration with the artist’s studio.
Born and raised in Nazi Germany and deeply scarred by the experience of war, Baselitz revolutionized the language of contemporary painting as early as the 1960s by introducing the famous reversed images—then a radical choice that shifted the focus from the subject to the painting itself, to the material and the creative gesture.

The exhibition, set up across 3 floors of the museum, brings together 170 works including paintings, etchings and sculptures, offering a broad-ranging monograph to discover the change brought forward by the artist.
The exhibition likewise recounts his connection with Florence, where he spent 6 months at Villa Romana.
