La Notte di Isabella

Folklore

Two evenings dedicated to the atmosphere and mysteries of Cerreto in the 1500s

On Saturday, July 5 and Sunday, July 6, the most anticipated event of the summer returns to Cerreto Guidi: La Notte di Isabella (Isabella's night). Two evenings to be immersed in a fascinating past of mystery, art and wonder.

The event commemorates the arrival of the young Isabella de’ Medici, daughter of the Grand Duke of Florence Cosimo I, at her summer residence in Cerreto Guidi in July 1576. An educated, refined woman, she was both loved and feared. That night would be her last. The narratives are intertwined with legend and it is said that her spirit has never really left these lands.

For the occasion, the historic center is transformed into a living 16ᵗʰ-century fresco, with each setting telling a story. The reenactment is a journey into the heart of the Renaissance, an opportunity to rediscover Tuscan cultural heritage by encountering nobles and commoners, witnessing scenes of daily life, participating in games from the period and enjoying performances of Renaissance music.

Information and the complete program can be found on the event website.
