July 4, 5 and 6 are dedicated to the historical re-enactment of medieval life in the village of Cascina, in the province of Pisa, specifically during the Battle of Cascina on July 29, 1364. This historical event was depicted in a cartoon by Michelangelo Buonarroti, commissioned for the Salone dei Cinquecento in Palazzo Vecchio.
Now in its 18ᵗʰ year, the event brings the atmosphere of the medieval village to the historic center of Cascina. Visitors will find historical parades, artisans and vendors of medieval products, performances by jesters, falconry, dancers, medieval music and food, along with much-anticipated Full Impact Medieval Archery and Combat tournaments. The event sees excellent artists gathering from all over Italy, while also shining light on local talents and businesses.
Also not to be missed is the evening of Friday, July 4 which, as a foretaste to the two days of festivities that will follow, features exciting entertainment in Piazza dei Caduti with duels in Modern Fencing and Medieval Combat.
An event that brings Cascina back to medieval times for two days, with entertainment for all ages.
