Tours

Savor the tradition, cruise the charm in a full-day experience in the heart of Tuscany

A day experience that joins the paradise for your palate at a stunning Pecorino cheese factory to the marvel of the historical harbor town Livorno and its canals.

Meet your guide at a convenient meeting point in the Fauglia area, where the cheese factory is located. At first you will be welcomed into a unique gastronomy shop, part of a renowned company producing cheese. The shop displays a variety of specialties from the whole area and it gives your guide a fantastic opportunity for a detailed introduction to the whole food industry of the area. You will admire a great assortment of cheeses, cold meats, breads and focaccias, pickled vegetables, delicious sauces, extra virgin olive oils … in a word it is a paradise for gourmets!

The experience continues with a guided visit to a very modern and technologically advanced cheese factory, producing over 70 different kinds of cheeses and distributing them all across Italy and Europe. A local operator from the factory will provide some protection to access the production areas of cheese. In a walk of about one hour through the several operational rooms, you will learn how top-quality local milk is gradually transformed into a range of delicious and very diversified cheeses. You will see plenty of operating machineries and personnel and learn about many details and technical facts on how they make pecorino cheese, ricotta and much more. The company operates following principles of traditional cheese-making but introducing the most advanced technologies for such achievements. It’s a tour full of incredible suprises.

After the visit to the production, you will enjoy a meal made of different cheeses served together with bruschettas, special sweet and sour sauces, cold meats, pickled olives and vegetables, honey … and of course a glass of wine. After lunch, you will have a great opportunity for shopping some of the best local specialties at the shop below.

In the afternoon, we will transfer in Livorno. The ride is just 30 minutes, and your guide will take you to an easy parking area right next to the most picturesque neighbourhood of the town: its Quartiere Venezia. You will immediately understand why the place is called this way. It is a very picturesque alternation of beautiful Tuscan-style palaces and canals full of boats, resembling the atmosphere of Venice. Your guide will take you to a quay where you will embark on a typical little boat for a ride of about 1 hour around all the historical town center of Livorno. The old town is namely an island surrounded by water and the boat ride will show you Livorno from a particularly spectacular perspective. You will learn about some historical facts of the town as your boat passes next to Medicean fortresses and under a number of bridges, including the longest bridge in Italy!

After the boat ride, you will have the chance to walk in Livorno and feel the typical vibes of a harbor town.
