Wine Tour in Cortona
Discover Cortona DOC wines and spend a lovely day in the city
Overlooking the stunning panorama of Val di Chiana, Cortona has a viticultural history that dates back to Etruscan times. The soil is clayey, with the presence of silt and little sand. The climate is mild, with minimal rainfall in spring and summer, and sun throughout the year. Therefore, nowadays its terroir is ideal for growing international grape varieties such as Syrah, Merlot and Chardonnay. Cortona wines are fresh, elegant and powerful.
Learn about Cortona DOC wines by visiting two wineries and tasting their wines. After a light lunch at the second winery, get to Cortona, visit the mystic hermitage of Le Celle, reach the top of the hill to admire stunning views on the valley from the Basilica of St. Marguerite, or take a stroll in the medieval town and explore the small artisan shops.
