Half-day by e-bike among villages and landscapes of Garfagnana

On Monday afternoon of every week, at 14:00, we set off on our route. We ride through the historic centre of Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, crossing a historic bridge over the Serchio river and then along about 1km of ordinary road, before turning right and starting to cycle through cultivated fields and agricultural landscapes. 

In a short time we reach the historic centre of Pieve Fosciana, and following the route of the "Via del Volto Santo" we arrive in Castiglione di Garfagnana, a splendid village included in the list of the most beautiful villages in Italy.

After a stop in a typical food bar where we will breathe the typical village atmosphere, with our electric MTB we will reach the highest point of the walls surrounding the medieval village, a panoramic point with splendid views of the Apuan Alps and the mountains of the Parco Nazionale dell'Appennino Tosco-Emiliano. We will continue along paths and pleasant dirt roads, crossing some farms where typical breeds of cattle are bred.

The landscapes that we will cross will allow us to fully enjoy the nature of which this valley is rich.

A beautiful descent through the woods will lead us to to the small village of Sambuca, with its small church perched on the volcanic rocks. A short visit and then for fun trails and dirt roads to the village of Pontecosi and its historic humpback bridge on the shores of the homonymous lake.

From here, in short, we will complete our circular route returning to Castelnuovo di Garfagnana.
