We start our excursion from the emerald Isola Santa lake, then we go up by the large chestnut woods towards the ghost town of Col di Favilla. Here we rediscover how the mountain was lived before the great emigrations. The houses are still there with their roofs and their windows from which curtains and fragments of past life protrude.
We leave the village and then we head towards the Puntato pasture. At the arrival, we are greeted by a magnificent landscape made of terraced meadows and ancient ruins. From the small stone church, the view shows the surrounding peaks with the wild silhouette of Pizzo delle Saette, which dominates the area, and in front of us, the mighty Sumbra.
A romantic beauty hugs the landscape that in autumn dresses up with beech trees that turn orange and gold.
We go down again through the chestnut woods to an abandoned cave. This is the perfect place to see how much man can hurt nature and himself.
The scenery is dramatic, a film set for a post-apocalyptic film.
