From the long, ring-shaped itinerary, it is possible to admire the particularities of the Apuan Alps Park, marked by its long history and beautiful scenery. This is a simple itinerary for those who want to start trekking in the best way possible.
The point of departure is the La Quiete Refuge, from where you reach path n. 11, which crosses the Alpeggio plain and continues toward Monte Corchia. Along the path, it easy to encounter small stone tabernacles, where the shepherds who lived here used to pray for successful harvests. After 40 min. you will reach Fociomboli.
Torbiera di Fociomboli is located in a vast field, surrounded by a wood and crossed by many streamlets with riverbeds formed by water-resistant rocks. In what is left of this former glacial lake, the only humid area in the Apuan Alps, many uncharacteristic plants grow, including orchids, and carnivorous plants. Once you reach the Croce Pass, continue along the ancient mining path that today bears the sign indicating n. 129, which leads to Foce di Mosceta. Along this road there are hidden stone refuges that were used by miners during the period in which they had to live in the area. From the Foce di Mosceta, there is a route that returns to Puntato on the n. 9 path.
This path runs along the Pania della Croce and the Pizzo delle Saette. The path slowly makes its way into the woods, and after a few ups and downs, reaches the small town of Col di Favilla, which seems ‘buried in chestnuts’. The ancient village, which has been uninhabited since WWII, is located in a place of incredible beauty, along the flat ridge of a mountain at almost 1000 m above sea level. The n.11 path will take you back to the La Quiete Refuge.
How to get to Puntato:
