Mt. Amiata: explore a volcano on two wheels

The perfect place for cyclists of all abilities

The Amiata region has a rich history of miners, carters and lumberjacks, and when biking through the area today the silence of the slopes, the intensity of the light, and the deep peace of nature take you back to that time.

Part of two provinces, Siena and Grosseto, and spread between the municipalities of Abbadia San Salvatore, Santa Flora, Arcidosso, Casteldelpiano, Seggiano, Piancastagnaio and Castell’Azzara, the Amiata region covers the Tuscan coast, the countryside of the Maremma, Chianti and the Val d'Orcia, and several medieval towns.

The area is perfect for cyclists, especially in the summer. When the sun is burning and the air is heavy, the woods offer welcome shade and silence. Cyclists here are spoiled for choice as there are numerous routes for people of all abilities, ages and preferences. There are also plenty of spas and restaurants to find delicious local specialities.
