Chianti

Castles, vineyards and beautiful countryside

The Chianti region, with 13,000 hectares of vineyards between Florence and Siena, is a land of travel rather than tourism, an area with a rich culture and history worth understanding and valuing rather than seen for only an hour or so by snap-happy tourists.

If you want to experience the Chianti region slowly and peacefully, soaking up the rhythm of the land and the beauty of nature, why not explore it by bike? The challenge of the steep slopes, the harmony with the landscape and the refreshing shade of the woods make the area ideal for cycling enthusiasts.

Gaiole in Chianti, Castelnuovo Berardenga, Radda in Chianti, Castellina in Chianti and Greve in Chianti are the five municipalities in the area, and the starting points for the series of paths that the Chianti Cycling Association has created for all ages, abilities and preferences, paths along which cyclists can appreciate the history, culture and beauty of the area.

The various routes and their mileages can be viewed on the site www.parcociclisticodelchianti.it. More information can be found on www.terresiena.it which has a specific area for cycling tourism, including information on accommodation, promotional packages, rental and guides.
