The itinerary starts from Alberese. After purchasing the entrance ticket, we head off on the cycle path to Marina di Alberese. After about 500 meters, we turn left on via degli Olivi and arrive at the gate from which the cycle itinerary called 'Pinastrellaia' begins. Going through the gate, we enter the heart of the park. With a little luck, we might spot wild animals such as fallow deer, hares, foxes, roe deer, and even wild boar.
The cycle path has an asphalted surface and inclines gently through fragrant Mediterranean scrub. Where the scrub thins out, we can admire a breathtaking view of Cala di Forno, Argentario and Giglio island. Continuing on, we reach an olive grove of centuries-old trees that reaches the foot of the Collelungo Tower, built by the Medici in the mid-late 16th century to keep control of the sea.
We will continue towards the dunes, where we can leave the bikes at the wooden racks and walk on the path that leads to the tower. When purchasing tickets at the ticket office, you will need to state your plan to walk up to the tower. The climbing path requires suitable shoes, but your efforts will be rewarded by a magnificent panorama of the coast and the lush pine forest.
