When Dante meets Dalì, in Maremma

salvador dali dante divine comedyOssessione Dalí. Passione, ribellione e lucida follia” (Dalì obsession. Passion, rebellion, rational madness), an exhibition about The Devine Comedy by Dante, illustrated by Dalì, is going to take place in Maremma, Tuscany, from July 12 to October 30. A hundred Dalì’s coloured wood carved writings representing people and icons from Dante’s hell, limbo and paradise will be showed in three different locations and periods:
  • July 12 – August 21: Follonica, Pinacoteca Civica
  • August 26–Semptember 18: Castell'Azzara, Villa Sforzesca
  • September 25 – October 30: Porto S.Stefano, Fortezza Spagnola
The idea of a virtual meeting between Dalì, the master of surrealism, and Dante, the father of the Italian culture, is stupefying and mystic. The Spanish artist interprets the poet’s verses creating dramatic shapes and colours, sometimes grotesque, sometimes ironic, sometimes sensual. This summer you don’t have to travel to Figueres to view Dalì’s masterpieces, you can come to Tuscany!
