For four decades, Leonard Cohen has been one of the most important and influential songwriters, singer, musician, poet and novelistof our time, a figure whose body of work achieves greater depths of mystery and meaning as time goes on. He is now back in Tuscany for a sole italian date in the special location of Piazza Santa Croce in Florence. There will be about 5000 seats available and tickets will start from 35 up to 90 euros. 2 - June 29th 2010 - Caetano Veloso's concert inVilla Solaria - Sesto Fiorentino - Florence (for Sesto d'estate) Another legend of worldwide music will play in Tuscany this Summer: Caetano Veloso composer, singer, guitarist, writer, and political activist. He has been called 'one of the greatest songwriters of the century' and is sometimes considered to be the Bob Dylan of Brazil. Veloso is most known for his participation in the Brazilian musical movement Tropicalismo which encompassed theatre, poetry and music in the 1960s, at the beginning of the Brazilian military dictatorship. Caetano will play in the park of the Villa Solaria in Sesto Fiorentino, a small village just north of Florence. Tickets are available on line here. Prices goes from 27 up to 38 euros. Along with Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, they are considered to be among the pioneers of heavy metal and modern hard rock, although some band members have avoided categorising themselves as any one genre. The band also incorporated classical music, blues-rock, pop and progressive rock elements. Deep Purple's tickets can be found here the price is 35 euros. Belle & Sebastian are often compared to influential indie bands such as The Smiths, as well as classic acts such as Love, Bob Dylan and Nick Drake. The name of the band is inspired by Belle et Sébastien, a children's book (and cartoon) by French writer Cécile Aubry. Tickets cost 23 euros and you can buy them here. It features cover versions of 1950s and 1960s Italian pop music, performed by Mike Patton ( ex Faith No More Mr. Bungle, Tomahawk, Lovage, Fantômas, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Zu and Peeping Tom) with an orchestra of about 65 people.
