The Serchio valley by bike: Castelnuovo Garfagnana to Lucca
Cycling with Parco Bike in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines
An event for lovers of two wheels will be held on Sunday, October 21 on the charming bike path that runs through Garfagnana, a green and wild landscape bathed by the river Serchio.
Participants will meet at 9:30 in the square of the railway station of Castelnuovo Garfagnana (LU). Leaving Castelnuovo we will reach Barga, one of the 100 most beautiful villages in Italy, and Ghivizzano, with its narrow houses encircling the soaring tower. A stop at the farm will be an opportunity to try the best dishes of Garfagnana before continuing the ride along the river to meet the famous "Devil's Bridge", a marvel of medieval engineering. The gardens of the Villa Reale in Marlia and an easy bike path along the Serchio ultimately lead cyclists to Lucca, a beautiful art city surrounded by an intact city walls. We expect to arrive in Lucca around 17.30.
Length: 58km - Total climb: 400m - Difficulty: easy Cost: 46 Euro including bike rental and assisted pedaling, cycling bag, guide, lunch in a farmhouse (drinks included). The fee must be paid at the time of bike delivery. The fee does not include admission to the park of the Villa Reale in Marlia (6 euro per person). Minimum number of participants: 6 persons. Note: Reservations are required. In the case of bad weather the trip will be canceled: the Parco Bike staff will be sure to notify members.
