The history of the Carnival of Viareggio through photos

The Viareggio Carnival, one of the finest and biggest in the world, was born on Mardì Gras 1873. At the beginning the floats were built of wood, plaster and jute and modelled by sculptors, carpenters and ironmongers. Starting from 1925 the floats were built of papier-mâché and the tradition goes on through the years. Here it is a brief photo story.
