Sassetta is well-known for its good food. Among its specialities are “wild boar Sassetta style” and other tasty dishes based on game, mushrooms and polenta.
To start, there are tasty tortelli – pasta shapes stuffed with ricotta cheese and vegetables – or mushroom and onion soups and to finish there are homemade desserts, figs in oil, chestnut jam and cherries with "vinsanto" (sweet dessert white).
Prestigious Costa degli Etruschi (Etruscan Coastline) wines and rich olive oil provide an excellent accompaniment to these dishes. Fruit, vegetables, sheep’s cheese, preserves and honey – frequently organically grown - can be bought directly from the producers.
